I gotta find a niche
Day 3 of my quest to make $40 a day. So far it has landed me a few bucks from filling out surveys on CashCrate and GlobalTestMarket. I also did a few dollars worth of HITs (Human Intelligence Tasks) as part of Amazon's Mechanical Turks Program where you get paid to do various little online tasks such as transcribing an hour long or foreign-language video or creating and using accounts to different sites around the world wide web such as submitting auto repair receipts and making a review about them to collecting clips of videos containing subject matter doing specific things.
All these are just a foot in the water in the quest to make $40 a day. To really make money you must get traffic. Attention is the most valuable thing on the internet. Anything you have, whether it is a video, game, web site, blog, its value lies in the attention that it draws. If you have a popular game, the page hosting that game gets traffic, so any advertising exposure on that page is more seen and you get paid when someone clicks on the ad on your page. And through Search Engine Optimization, you can adjust attributes written in the code of that page to rank higher in search engines. Ads on YouTube make people a lot of money.
But you gotta have a niche. Niches are the key to ranking in search engines. You are able to supply a specific market your product that is highly targeted and highly demanded. If you have a specific niche, the customer comes to you. That is what I must do. This blog I was trying to market but it's not a very specific niche. It's kind of personal and generic. I have to create a web site that offers someone something that they may or may not buy, but I still get revenue through advertising. This web site will be something that people search for in Google, something I know about, and something I can market.
So the next step is to find a niche. That will be the first step toward success. I gotta find that niche; that starting point. Stay tuned.
